It happened: Uniswap V3 launched on Optimism!
Uniswap is the largest decentralized exchange in DeFi. Earlier this year, Uniswap launched its version 3. The new Uniswap version improved flexibility and efficiency for liquidity providers and solved the impermanent loss problem.
When introducing version 3, Uniswap declared to launch its new version on Optimism “shortly afterward.”
And this happened yesterday!
Optimism is a second-layer solution. Second-Layer solutions are a form of scaling solutions. They aim to make Ethereum transactions cheaper and faster. So, users can now expect to pay much lower gas fees when interacting with Uniswap on layer 2.
Immediately after the announcement, the Ethereum and DeFi community went wild on Twitter:
But Optimism has to be battle-tested. Today, Uniswap only conducted the alpha launch. Also, the Optimism team still can upgrade the bridge contract in case bugs arise.
So or so: Uniswap launching on Optimism marks an important milestone in the history of DeFi.
