Leading non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace OpenSea is now processing more transaction volume daily than it did in the entire year 2020.
Devin Finzer, co-founder and CEO of OpenSea, tweeted that the platform processed transactions worth $95 Million in only two (!) days.
In the entirety of 2020, OpenSea processed transactions worth an estimated $20 Million in total. That equals an increase in daily transaction value by about 650 times since last year.
OpenSea is by far the biggest NFT marketplace in terms of daily transaction volume, with other marketplaces like SuperRare or Rarible only representing daily volumes of respectively $543,000 and $248,000.
While Rarible outperformed OpenSea in 2020 with a total volume of $24 Million, OpenSea now represents 150 times the amount of Rarible’s volume. Overall, Rarible still almost quadrupled its daily transaction volume since 2020.
SuperRare processed around $6 Million in transactions last year (about $16,400 daily on average). Since then, the platform’s daily volume has increased by more than 33 times.
