Goldman Sachs Files For DeFi And Blockchain Equity ETF

Goldman Sachs files for a DeFi and blockchain ETF at the SEC. The investment bank is one of the most well-known globally. The ETF will offer exposure to public companies in DeFi and the blockchain industry.

The filing reads:

“The Goldman Sachs Innovate DeFi and Blockchain Equity ETF (the ‘Fund’) seeks to provide investment results that closely correspond, before fees and expenses, to the performance of the Solactive Decentralized Finance and Blockchain Index (the ‘Index’).”

But there are no crypto assets included in the filing!

This ETF offers exposure to companies only! Many of the included companies have been very active in the crypto industry recently. Visa e.g. collaborates with DeFi projects like Monolith. Facebook is experimenting with blockchain technologies as well, and PayPal entered the crypto industry in 2020 already.

So, this ETF focuses on companies that improve the crypto industry’s infrastructure. Because of this, the ETF allows conservative investors to invest in crypto even though they might view bitcoin & Co as too risky.

In that sense, we see once again how attractive the crypto industry has gotten – even for conservative investors in traditional finance!
